Default 8.5 all the way around too small?

I have found a set of c5 thin spoke wheels but they are only 8.5. Any thoughts? I havent been able to see what it would look like. Thanks

It's not bad, a 9" or 9.5" wide is better IMHO, since you can then run wider tires. with an 8.5 you can only run between a 245 - 265 series tire . . .

I thought the first number was how tall the tire was and the second was how wide it was? The rims are 17''x8.5''.

Personally, I like the look of wide wheels, but those won't be bad. As for tires sizes, for example:

275/40/17

The first number is the tread width (in millimeters if I'm not mistaken), the second number is related to the sidewall height. It is not a direct measurement though...it is based on the tread width. For example, I run a 275/35/18 tire up front, and its outer diameter is about 25.6" or so. My rear tires are a 295/35/18, and their outer diameter is about 26.1". The last number, obviously, is the rim diameter it is designed to fit.

I'm looking for 2 rims that size. I have thin spoke c5's on my GTA, with 10.5's on the back, and 9.5's on the front. the 9.5's are just to wide. Maybe we can work something out. the 9.5's have 245's on them, and it just doesnt look right, but i cant really go any larger, due to rubbing issues.

please let me know if you're interested, or atleast where i may be able to find more, because i cant find any that narrow.

Where did you find 17x9.5 c5 y2k rims? I didnt know they made these, I would put 17x9.5 all around if I can find them.

At least the 94 Firehawks had as OE a 17x8.5 with 275/40s. You will be fine to run a 275 on a 17x8.5, but any bigger rim like an 18x8.5 would be a no-go.

I bought the rims for 335 with shipping brand new. They should be arriving within a week. I'm going to be putting 255 50 17 because the tires are free. I will throw on a bit bigger tire when the funds allow, probably 555r 265 40 17. I throw some pics up when this all comes together. Hopefully it will be sooner than I think.

correct, the first number is the tread width in millimeters...

mostly correct, the second number is related to sidewall height...it is the percentage of the tread width that the sidewall is tall...

example: 275/40/17...

275 = tread width in millimeters
40 = 40% of 275 millimeters = sidewall height
17 = rim size
