dealership asking too much??
I went to look at a 99z28 at a local dealership here, this is what I found:
99 z28
auto
hardtop
pewter exterior
grey cloth interior
57,xxx miles
looks stock
and theyre asking $12,900
is it just me or is this a bit too much for that car??? its really clean but I dunno

Way high. It's all about shopping around for the deal. I had to wait forever to find a great shape LT1 for decent money.
If the car is worth it to you, get it. If you are looking for a deal, pass.

first thing, check the dealerships website. ALOT of times we(the dealership) get screwed because the dumbass salespeople take the hangtags out of the car, so the customer see's it and only sees the buyer's guide on the window. then they just walk away cause customers are smart, they know what they are looking for and what the fair market is. so the actual price might be less. now if that price was ON the hangtag or as an "advertised" special price, then yeah, i'd say it's high. hell you can find alot better deals in this forum in the vehicle classifieds

That's not horrendously off base...but probably has room for negotiation. A lot of people jump into threads like this to say "Too high! I only paid $X for Y". Every car is different and condition, previous owner, as well as geographic location play much bigger roles in value. I've noticed for instance Boston, New Jersey, Long Island and the Chicago area are routinely paying thousands more for what you'll find in Texas or Kansas. Not to mention for instance, if that dealership sold the car new, it was one owner, they did all the maintainance and have records, and the car is totally stock....it's worth a lot more than seemingly the same car would fetch on Ebay if it had 3 owners and had run 11's before being put back together as stock.

Say you did some checking around and offer $10. He might shoot you a counter of like, $11.9. Let it sit. If he calls you later, might say he'll take $10.9.
Still, look on this site and on eBay and see what people are selling them for mono-e-mono. You can get a great LS1 F-Body for ~$8,000.

I just almost bought the exact same car.
99 Z28
cloth interior
hardtop
62200 miles
white
no cd
one owner car (lady) she ordered it
3.23 gears
$8000
so I would say that is way too high.

Exactly make an offer and see what they say. Thats how I got my 00 expedition winter beater. They wanted 12K for it with 60K miles on the clock, all options except leather, paint in awesome condition, basically the thing looked new. However, it was right around the time that gas spiked to $3.00+ a gallon for regular so when i went in and the asked me how much I would pay for it I said 8K. They hemmed and hawed but when i took out my check book and told them I would buy it right now they folded and gave it to me for 8k. Took it to my mechanic to have it checked out and everything was perfect so it all depends on how fast they want to move the car. If they want it gone then they will fold, if not they wont budge and you will know to look elsewhere.
