Default Car Dies Alot!!

well heres the deal. ill try to shortin it up. my car idles at about 700-900 rpms. when i come to a complete stop, let off the brake and give it a little gas and then hit the brake, it revs from about 400 rpms to about 1000rpms for a few times and then dies. other times it will just die. it doesnt do it all the time. but almost half the time. if i throw it into neutral it will idle out most of the time. and also when i am in reverse or drive and dont give it any gas and turn the wheel it will die alot of the time. the other day i was waitin at a light and i had the brake on and i gave it a little gas, up to like 1100 rpms and then let off the gas and the car just died immediately. i was thinking it was just idling low, but its always idled like that i think and it just started doing this a couple months ago. i just got the car in june of 2006. the mods are in my sig. thanks for the input.

Sounds like a dirty IAC valve. Remove it from the TB and clean it with carb cleaner. Doesn't even take 10 min and if it is something else this problem will be eliminated from the other possible causes of the problem.

Sounds like the IAC to me too. You might also want to make sure there's no tears in the rubber hose between the mass airflow sensor and the throttle body.

Top outboard portion of the throttle body on the driver's side. It has a wiring harness attached to it.
It's attached with two torx bolts (at least on mine it is).

I'll be cleaning mine along with the MAF today. Pretty sure my prob is not with the IAC sensor because I replaced mine when I put in my P&P TB.

After my stall and even a tune (dyno tune not driveability/street tune), my car will surge when coming to a stop and sometimes die. The idle drops to normal when coming to a stop, then will drop to 400 or less. It will surge and either return to normal or die. Only happens when its warmed up, AND happens 100% of the time upon hot/warm start, never during a cold start.

I messed with the idle set screw to see if that helps some, going to the parts store now to see if that helped.

I'll let you know how it goes with mine today.

My car did this, I cleaned the IAC. It still did it. I replaced the IAC. has not done it since. Sometimes the IAC is just trash, other times it can be cleaned, clean before trashing though!

haha. well kind of. i traded my car in. but they gave me the car on a pre approved loan from my bank, because it was saturday. so come wedensday, they told me they could only approve me for 80% of the loan. and that was last wedensday. so i went to take the car back this past saturday and i filled out a credit app. with the dealership, so he told me to hold on to the car until further notice. so im kinda waitin on for sure if i keepin this car or gettin mine back. but i didnt get a chance to fix it before i traded the car in.

i think it might be the iac, because my service engine soon light is always on and off. so i think that might have been it. and i traded in for an 06 G6. its quite a step down in performance, but 33 on the highway
