Several??? regarding a cam swap. Tech Help needed.
I want to make a max 450hp to the wheels with a cam on my 00 C5. With a budget in mind I want to make the right decisions. Do I save up and get a double roller or is the LS2 OE timing chain significient?
Also should I consider a LS6 intake even though I am sticking with my LS1 heads? Would it help in any way?
Will springs, retainers, or any other head work be needed while using a mild cam?
In the end I want the best bang for the buck. ECS puts out a great cam and I am considering that route but I don't want this to turn into a $3K project. What list would you generate with a cam build?

You're going to have to go to a max effort cam to get 450 at the wheels cam only. That means you'll need at least the LS6 intake if not something like a FAST 90. You'll need a good dual spring package rated appropriately for the lift of the cam you choose. You'll also need a good computer tune. This assumes you have all other bolt-ons available.
You might expand a bit on what your plans for the car are going to be. That will make it easier for people to help.

Nope you guys. I to thought the numbers were unrealiatic. Someone started a post where ECS added a mild cam (they won't release numbers) comp 921 springs, retainers and a pulley to get 430 to the wheels on a LS1. Keep in mind this is also with a full exhaust and intake. No heads, or intake manifold. I'll post the link. There are several out there. I just wanted to get some real ideas as to what is needed. My plan is to run the cam, pulley, and move over to a LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain, etc....
O.K. I just actually searched alittle and it was on a 04 so that means he was already updated. so I guess a Intake would be needed. I still have no plans of runnin a LS6/Fast intake so maybe I will just shoot for 425rwhp and be happy.

I agree but they claim to have 3 cars getting similar results. It just looks like we are getting better cam selections out there. Hell even if I get 414+ and this pig can run some low/mid 11's with a stall and 3.73's I would be a happy camper. Final goal when it is all said, is to have the stall, rear, cam, Dr's, and a 11 second car. I think that is reasonable. Honostly I don't care about dyno numbers, I just use them as a reference.

On a LS6 engine I only managed 423 rwhp with a 232 234 cam and the bolt ons you are looking at. For you I would expect closer to 400 without the intake or ls6 heads depending on the cam size.
