Which cam will work best with AS 5.3 Stage 2.5 heads
I am trying to put a combo together for a friend that will put down some good track times yet will still be drivable on the street. This isn't a daily driver. The cams we are considering are the T-Rex the MS3 and the G5X3 or G5X4. He already has the heads. It is a stock cid bottom end. Flycutting isn't a problem. Thanks in advance for your input...

Is there going to be a big difference in performance between the G5X3 and the T-Rex?? I know the G5X4 would be a closer match but we are running Comp 977 springs and I don't think they will handle the lift of the G5X4.

T-rex has more lift than a G5X4. Barely. But still more.
And yes, there's a big difference between the X3 and the Trex. The Trex is all up top, while the X3 is mid and top with drivable low end. I have no problem cruising around at 1500rpm with my cam. I haven't driven a Trex car, so I could be wrong. I've just seen the clutch from a car that was a Trex car that didn't have enough gear.
