LS2 swap into 2001 Mustang GT
This type of swap has been bugging me. The thought of saving over 100 lbs of engine weight, compared to my SOHC 4.6,plus the easy additional horsepower has me hooked!
Has anyone completed this swap? Any info. would be helpfull. I like the carbed LS-2 crate engine, but EFI would be OK also.
I have a full machine shop to work with. Thanks for any input!
I would stay with a 5 spd or 6 spd trans.

Boys start searching. There is a ton of info on the early 90's models and I see some popping out on the 99 on up models.
I'm thinking of getting a 91 coupe. A lot of my friends have stangs and I want to blow there doors off with a ls1 in it.

itll be more straight forward than the fox body swaps, they swap in 4.6 crossmembers. you lengthen the stock motor mounts and its in there.
IMO, sell your GT and buy a V6 car to start out with.

The Stang I have is a 2001 Bullitt. I just wonder how much better the handling and performance would be with a light weight LS-2 up front! 450-500 HP would be easy pickins with this engine!

Wouldn't it be a much more direct swap to just pull a 4.6 DOHC S/C motor out of a wrecked 03-04 Cobra?? That would be a huge power gain, with minimal fabrication.
I'd imagine the mounts are the same, not sure about the bellhousing though. Might be able to pull the motor and 6 speed trans as one unit, that would be pretty sweet. Only downside is that motor weighs a lot

A cobra engine with half way decent miles is like 10k or more if you can find one. I could build a replica of a mark 8 block and still using a kenne bell or something but **** GM did it with out being blown. When I get an awesome trans, engine, harness etc for like 3k and make 400hp N/A.
