Unhappy can i put a LT1 t56 onto a LS1 engine?

Hey i have lined up a buy for a t56 tranny out of a 95 camaro, It of course had a LT1 engine. I have an LS1 and i'm trying to get the facts straight whether or not i can just get a LS1 bell housing and bolt it up, thanx!

ah so it's a no go? i need it to be good, if there's any grey area i'm not gonna do it.

I'm being a newbie, but is the input shaft the part that goes into like where the flywheel and such is?

No go!

The input shaft of an LT1 T56 is too short to use with a LS1 bell.

Yes "the input shaft is the part that goes into like where the flywheel and such is"

I thought you could swap inputs and as long as you had the ls1 bellhousing you were good to go...I swear I have seen people do this...mb not though...

AFAIK you would need to change the input shaft and the front plate on the trans to make it work, along with the LS1 bell.

Yes it does, hence the need to change the front plate along with the input shaft and bell to swap a T56 either way.

This is correct, I have verified from D&D as well as T-56 rebuilds. It ends up being more hassle than its worth. 300 for input shaft, 250 for front plate, and 250 for bellhousing. I was looking into it for my LS1 S10 but you'd have to find a real cheap LT1 t-56 to make it worth your while.
