Default Project Trans Am

Ok heres the deal, I noticed the other day at my uncles autoshop he has a body to an Ls1 based trans am. Car was stolen mtr and trny was taken and some front body parts, hood, bumper, fenders, ok so all front body parts are gone. But anyways, the interior needs help, its a t-top automatic leather car. and its straight. I can get it for almost nothing. I think I am going to get it and put it back together, salvaged title for the fact it was stolen not smashed. Then I wont have a car note anymore and I can mod the hell out of it. What do you guys think?

and this is more cost effective than buying a late model ls1 that's not salvaged?

i'm not sure.. sounds like long term resale would always be less?

yea if you can get it for pratically nothing then get it and part it out, but it probally wont be worth you while to rebuild it with a salvage title, I know myself along with alot of people on this board would never touch a car with a salvage title reguardless of how it recieved it

If you want to keep it long term and therefore not concerned resale. Maybe, but if you're starting from practically nothing what about high mileage 6, then you would atleast save on the insurance. Although if you're not young or it's going to be a track car that wouldn't matter either.

I am going to keep if for long term, and I can get it for a whole $700 stinky bucks. what you think about that? I am looking at the fact that I wont have a car note and i could still have a f-body and have more $ to spend on my little girl.

Buy it and part it out nad put it towards something that may have resale later.

That would make a good starting point for a drag car

Unless its going to be a full drag or track only car I wouldn’t buy go for anything with a salvage title. But if you have any concern about resale or keeping it long terms I would just look for something with a clean title.
Just my opinion.

actually in all it wont be expensive, I already have a tranny. I can get other parts interior and exterior from all of you great people here on ls1tech. All the suspension is there just a few body parts and a motor. which I want to build a 408 or something so I will be starting from scratch anyways
