Well what do you use?
This is to the guys that like to play but maybe not on the track.
Just curious.
Were a spec dealer but have had more then enough problems to try something else out.
Have a car making 460+ RWHP but is never on the track. More of a weekend playtoy.
Please no need to bash spec, just give a honest oponion of what has worked for you. We have done a coupld McCloud setup's that have worked great, but their a tad bit more money.
I guess you get what you pay for.

I've had a Ram Clutch (their Powergrip), and it was alright...pedal was a little stiff, but managable. Worked pretty well under the ~350 RWHP conditions it was subjected to, and a daily driver at that. I decided to go with an RPS clutch (Stage III) because I wanted a lighter piece, and I feel like it was a good decision for me. The pedal feel was lighter than the RAM, but still heavier than stock...it is harder to engage it smoothly on an incline, but still livable under daily driving conditions. Throttle response is what I was after, and it is much nicer with the lighter weight piece.
A lot of people don't like the RPS though because it doesn't seem to hold up to track abuse...not sure on that one, because I don't go there often (and haven't yet with this particular clutch). The price is up there too...
It should be even easier to drive when I switch my 3.42 rear out for my Strange with 4.11s. If I get the time, I'll probably do a test and tune towards the end of this year at our local track and see how it does. If it ***** the bed, I'll be sure to let everyone know. Otherwise, no news is good news.

Spec all the way!!!
I have about 7,000 miles with 345rwhp/360rwtq and 3,000 miles with the combonation of 400rwhp/365rwtq and 550rwhp/550rwtq on the bottle on sticky tires and have had ZERO issues with my Spec Stage 3, Feels close to stock like pedal pressure, very little chatter, would go with spec again in a heartbeat, once my stage 3 goes out I will be going with a stage 4.

I had a spec stage 2.. it chattered like crazy and eventually went out with about 3k on it. I installed my ls7 about 10k ago and havent had any problems yet. Should have at least 500 rw on spray.

SPEC stage 4 here. No problems for me and I've been beating the **** out of it with the turbos. If my SPEC were to go out though, I'd go with either a mcleod or a textralia setup. Not because I'm not happy with my SPEC, just because everyone's got so much heartache with them, it kinda makes you question a product more than you'd like, especially when there are sooo many other options out there.

I seem to feel that the driver, other parts installed, and clutch decision is very important. We have a lot of people who think they know how to drive a 6 speed with aftermarket clutch but only a few acturally do. For guys making 300-400 I don't think there is any reason not to go LS7 unless your spraying on top or your have more power in the very near future. The LS7 is more then capable of handleing that power it seems. It also has better driveability and should last longer. Ever guys making more then 400 and maybe even in the 450 range can use the LS7. This however is the power range where the question mark comes up. I know that the spec clutches can handle this power range and we have used many spec clutches. We have had some problems as of recentially and I have always followed the bad rep your guys give them on this site. I am just exploring other options.
Thanks for the input so far.

Spec IV in the car right now. Had 40k on it, on reason it came out is because the motor let go. If I dont go with a lightweight spec IV, I will either try a the Fidanza or a Tilton twin disc. Possibly an Exo-Skel.

Spec 3+ here with about 13000 miles on it still holding strong. I do a lot of driving in stop and go traffic and have yet to smell the clutch burning. I have also made tons of track passes on this clutch. Heck look at the torque my car is making on the spray. It has been holding it fine!
