well, it IS different. I think what everybody means is that the night time pictures might not be doing it justice. Get the stripe, take some good daylight pics and I think you're good to go!

I'm not going to be so quick to judge. Colored rims were great on 3rd gens. However, I can't help but think that if there was some black on these rims, they'd look a ton better. Maybe the lip? An IROC pattern? I'm sure that you're going to paint the center cap, though I didn't read that (sorry if missed it). That's a given, of course.
To get a better opinion from everyone, you need to take some pics in the daylight, but you knew that, I'm sure. However, you need to take a little auto photography 101. Your shots are terrible and are making the rims look worse than they are, even not counting the dark.
First, make sure you take some full-car shots. Direct side view where you can see all of both bumpers.
Then, turn the wheel to the right so that the rims are just less than 45* angle, then kneel down about five yards away and take a 3/4 shot from the front, camera pointing at driver's headlight. Make sure you can see all of the front bumper and all the way to the back of the car. Then, turn the wheel to the left and take some 3/4 shots from the rear, pointing at the driver's tail light.
Here's some quick examples of good photography I pulled off the first and second page of the Appearance forum:
Not quite 3/4 (which is good), but kneeling with the wheel turned:
Another good angle. Notice he didn't clip off the front or rear bumper:
Take at least one from the back 3/4 view:
Here's one standing close that's good. You'll want to take this when you get your stripes:
Then, we'll be able to tell how the rims look. I'm curious.

So is everyone being nice to this guy or what? I am sorry dude nice car but LOSE THOSE WHEELS. They are .
We have all done something stupid with our cars before and riced it out accidently. The most important thing to do is start the intervention process before you go out and buy a park bench looking spoiler.
Don't feel bad, it probably looked a lot better in your head when you thought about it and it just didn't quite work out.
Custom dryer hose CAI on a Z06, altezza lights on a otherwise mint red SS, you might have thought that bright red vinyl seat covers in a other wise gray cloth interior looked cool (including gray cloth rear seats).
I have done it too, I put a Mecham four-port extrator hood on my old Z28, was horribly misaligned as well. I was actually embarrassed to sit in traffic while everyone pointed at me and called me an idiot.
Just repaint the wheels (black maybe) or strip them and polish them than add a layer of clear coat.

They are beat. Sorry.
Chrome would have been sweet.
The tires look too small too (sidewall of rears).
This is why we have this forum. To look at others cars and make a decision based on our own input/others results.
If you wanted to be different, you have achieved that. Otherwise, you could have done much better with that car. It looks great otherwise (from what I can see.)
