Specific differences between F-Body and GTO T56?
I searched but couldn't find a specific list of differences between the two. I'm mostly interested in the shifter assembly. I have a swap (see sig below) with a 2001 F-Body T56. The GTO shifter position is a bit better than the one I have now, and I'm wondering what parts I would need to put the GTO shifter on my trans.
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure the remote shifter on the GTO will bolt right up where a normal fbody shifter will. For a while I was looking at putting a GTO tranny in my car for the gearing and I was told that I would just need to unbolt the big bulky GTO shifter and put mine on.

Do I need to disassemble the tranny to change the offset lever?
I'm wondering if there are any people out there that have done the GTO->F-Body swap and have the parts I need just lying around...

No you can do it with the trans together. I have a GTO Trans in our 2000 Fbody. You are going to have to buy the GTO to do it. Cost is pretty high.

they thats my thread lol.
if your looking to just get the gto shifter, buy a stock one that someone is selling.
the differences inthe 2 trannys are the gearing, and like said above, you have to swap out the shifter socket cup thing, that the shifter goes into. i wouldnt think thats socket cup would be all that much money if you went to a deal to buy it.
