Default TSP Duals w/ stock mans and Y?

Anyone tried to mate up a TSP true dual with stock manifolds and y pipe? I know it seems like a stupid question, but in California headers are verbotten unless you're willing reinstall the manifolds before your smog check and even then you could get caught on a spot check. So I'm considering cutting the stock Y just after the cats and welding up the TSP duals then welding up some pipe after the bulets to bring it under the axels and out the back.

Anyone tried this already?

I love my Texas Speed duals, but if you're going to buy a kit just to hack it up I would just have one built to your specific needs.

Ok, lemme explain better, I'd cut the Y pipe before the merge then fabricate some piping into the TSP Xpipe...make sense?

I looked at that, but I actually want the under axel look. I want to be able to see the the dif cover from the back of the car. I know that's really just an aesthetic thing, but I hate that pipe going across the whole back of the car. Same reason I don't like the loudmouth.

You're not going to lose any flow with the Bassani kit, especially on stock manifolds. That's what it was designed to connect to. To connect the TSP kit, you're going to hvae to have your exhuast shop fab up extensions to run from the end of the TSP kit to your stock manifolds. I ran shorties and Bassani duals and made 344 rwhp. It's actually quite a nice combo.

Still not into the Bassani kit, especially that whole dual in dual out muffler thing. I mean has anyone looked inside the muffler? How does that effect flow, is it really true duals with only one muffler?

Yes it works! It's dual-in dual-out, works just like real true duals. It has been tested. I ran it on my car and picked up 20 lb/ft tq over ypipe. It works!

isn't exhaust that dumps before the axle illegal in california anyway? i'm pretty sure it is in new jersey, so if it is in jersey, it's likely in california. this means TSP duals would be illegal anyway, so if you're going through all that crap, you may as well just get LT's.

just buy the bassani kit and weld in 2 electric cutouts before the axle.

I think duals that dump before the axle are illegal everywhere on account of the fumes being to close to the passengers.

You're better off having a local shop fab up a system for you. The duals run $400 already. I would think a local shop could do something for $200 plus materials.

Yes, dumps are illegal, thats why I want to run pipes after the bullets "under the axels" as indicated above. I'll check into a local shop and see what they can do and how much, I've seen some hack jobs on the internet from custom stuff so I was a bit worried about doing that.

sounds like TSP duals aren't for you then. they dump before the axle if i recall correctly.

honestly dude, your best bet is to either get the bassani true dual system, or simply get a set of used shorties with a CARB number and get your duals custom made. i'd go the second route if i were you.

I don't believe dumps on any car is legal, anywhere. I'm flying by the seat of my pants in NJ until I get caught (it'll happen eventually I bet) at which point I'm running them out the back. choco has a good suggestion with the shorties.
