Default 2000 LS1 oil pump

What's the difference between the '00 LS1 f-body oil pumps and the oil pumps put in during the '01-'02 model years? I have 42k miles on my Z28 with no issues and wanted to see if it is urgent to upgrade the oil pump.

Thanks,
Jim

If it is working well leave it alone.

If you ever plan on doing a cam swap in the near future the oil pump is on of those things that you might as well change while your in there. Many people go and change to a ported LS6 oil pump. Got mine from Texas-Speed

Nothing really, some people say the pre 01's are less reliable for some reason.

I have the original 98 oil pump in my vette. Have made numerous changes throughout the years - 2006 setup made just over 500 rwhp (H/C I25 shot) that entails hundreds of passes down the 1320 over the years. Who knows maybe I was just lucky.

Will be running a 383 stroker for 2007 - putting in a Melling 10296 can't push my luck to far!

It's something you don't really replace unless a) you are already having problems or b) you are doing a cam swap...the oil pump has to come off anyway so most people just change it while they're in there.
