Default TH400 quick speedo questions

Ive swapped my 96 TA to a TH400. For now Ive been using the WSS for my speedo. I think I remember reading somewhere that the pcm needed a speed signal to get the pcm into the correct tables... Or something along those lines. I just cant find the thread now and Ive read so many Im getting a headache.

Will having the FRONT WSS hooked up cause a problem when the car is on the dyno? I ask this because the front wheels will not be turning on the dyno, so therefore the pcm will not see a speed signal.

So the answer to the above question will determine whether I need to install these VSS parts now or if they can wait till the next time I have to pull the transmission.

I have the 3L80 wheel, sensor, and wiring pigtail, but the tranny's already in the car.

You just need to remove the driveshaft, jack up the trans a little and remove the tailhousing and install the parts. Make sure the reluctor wheel has the correct inside diameter, there are two for the th400.

Im pretty sure I have the correct parts. Just wont be sure untill I get to install them.

Back to my main question... On an LT1 obd2 car, do I need the VSS to be hooked up in order to dyno tune the setup? Or will I be fine with the pcm seeing zero mph?

TIA

C'mon guys... Car is a 96 OBD2 LT1 Trans Am...
Does this PCM require a VSS signal to operate properly?

Im almost positive the M6 cars need the VSS, but how does the A4 PCM know the auto trans is not in park or neutral?

Im going to link to this post from the Lt1/Lt4 and drag racing section.

Try the PCM diagnostics and tuning section of this site.
My point was, it's not that difficult to just put the stuff on the trans, I'd just do that.

Yeah, I see your point... That way we know for sure its correct. I was just hoping I could get out of doing that and go ahead with my dyno appointment. Time to get to work.

Thanks
