Question for the Texans
I was in Houston today and accidentally went through two toll booths without paying. I also noticed what appeared to be cameras hanging up. I did pay two of them out of four. I was looking for my exit and it was around 8:30 I think and interstate was slap *** full and I couldn't get over to get into the pay lane without possibly clogging up the entire 610 with a wreck. My question is this, how strict are they with people coming through without paying? Especially from another state?

what they'll do is send you a letter than once you have the letter go to ntta and tell them what happened and you should only have to pay like 5-10 dollars instead of 50

I have some relatives from Louisiana that ran all of the booths that they could on beltway 8 from 225 to where my parent's lived in Pearland and they never got a letter....damn backwoods relations...
The letters they send out are for TX tags since that is the datatbase they have to work with. It isn't like they really do anything to TX residences that don't pay until it is in the tens of thousands of $'s.
Unless things have changed, you'll never hear from them.

You generally have a probationary period. What I mean by that is that the first one or 2 they don't fine you for, if you continually run them though, you will get a letter. My parents ran a few one the grand parkway stretch, not knowing they were even on a tollway until it was too late, since it is ez tag only, and they never got a letter. They called the tollway and was told that there was no violation.
To be sure, you might call the Toll Road Authority, if you get it taken care of without them having to send you a letter, it might work out better for ya. But it would be worth it to see if you have any violations against ya.

Its $15 per violation....Been there done that. It also depends if the camera was able to pick up your license plate. You might not get ANYTHING and even then it will take a month or two for them to find you.
