Why did GM not build a Computer Cover?
Okay well about 2 months ago my computer went out because water had gotten in there and rusted the ends of the wires. Yesterday the computer went out again!!!!! Water was in it again. Why goes GM not make a cover for the computer. Does anyone else have this problem. I am starting to think that I might need to try to lower my VFN hood or something to make the seals tighter. I am afraid now to even wash my engine bay thinking I am going to get the computer wet. But back to my question. GM why did you leave the computer wide open to water damage.

I would imagine the problem is with your aftermarket hood. Water is probably seeping in through the seal above the computer. Add some material to the bottom of the hood where it mates with the gasket strip and that should stop the leaking.

Mine is always dry---even when I have been CAUGHT in the rain.....I don't see how mine could possibly get wet anyhow.!!!!!!!!! You obviuosly have some sealing problems there........ [nothing is gonna seal like a factory hood i bet]

You know...back in the day, I had some weird issues with my car. On a cold start up, it would sometimes want to die initially, and then it would go on its merry way with not even a hiccup for the rest of the time driving it. The problem persisted, and I kept taking it to the dealership complaining about it, and they could "never reproduce the problem." They finally got tired of seeing me after about the 5th time for it, and did some more checking...this time, half of my gauge cluster was out (I think I only had a tach and some other random gauges that worked), so they knew it was serious. They said they had found water in my computer, and had to replace the entire unit. To this day, it has baffled me, but I've never had that problem again. Not sure if one of the seals was bad or just left off...
