sounds funny, but add superglue to the crack/break, follow that with two or four layers of fiberglass behind it, then sand the daylights out of the front, add a layer up front, sand some more then THIN THIN layer of bondo for smoothing.

3 hours max before it's ready for paint.

Sounds like your referring to the tips and the liitle bar that connects them. If you are, the tips are aluminum along with the bar and the weld. Only way to fix that is to get an aluminum weld done to it. You can't have a regular mig wire spot weld done, it won't hold. Find a boat shop they usually do aluminum welding. Cost 10-20$ If not referring to tips Duffsters got it

so duff. 3-4 layers on the back. then one up front, then bond that so its smooth and sand it. should be good to go? can i just use the "fiberglass repair kits" at autozone/kragen for that or should i get something else

the fiberglass reapir kit should be ok. take your time and do things right. you may even wanna get some steel mesh and put the fiberglass over it on the backside

good call on the steel mesh...hadn't thought about that. Hell, even old screen material would be good w/the fiberglass on back.
