700r4 in 93 Z problems! Help!!!
Just bought my wife a 93 Z28, and the trans is having some problems. It was rebuilt by a local trans shop about 10k miles ago. The problem is that it will not shift out of first until about 4700 RPM's, 2nd until about the same rpms. It downshifts very early as well, it will downshift into 2nd with 2nd gear at about 2700 rpms. It will not shift into OD until you wind out 3rd to about 4500-4700 RPMs. I tried a fluid/filter change, still does it. Fluid was not burnt, slightly dirty, and the trans according to the guage never gets much hotter than about 150 degrees. Any ideas? Thanks, Nick.

You might also want to check that the TV cable is hooked up , If the 10 mm ball was used during the rebuild and unhooked TV cable will result in max TV and the description you made, Easy thing to check first then as vince said sticky Throttle valve is likely and common problem in these units , The govenor is definatly worth a check but ussually will result in a no shift rather than late shift condition

Thanks a lot guys!!! I will check that out. I figured it might have something to do with the TV cable, but I wanted to run it by the experts before digging in too deep. Thanks again, Nick.
