Default Buying a 96 Z28

Not sure where to post this, but I am going to look at a black 96 z28 with 98k miles, and a new trans. Im wondering what specific things to check for when I go to look at it. Thanks for the help in advance.

look for leaks at the front balancer and the rear of the motor. Check for vibrations in the drivetrain(u joint's possibly). Just look over it and make sure everything works like it should i guess. They person that owns it usually will not point out flaws unless it's obvious because they don't want to come down on the price. but you find enough stuff and they may work with ya. Is it a 4 speed Auto or 6 speed manual can i ask? you said it had a new tranny but didn't mention what it had. What other options does it have?

make sure you either get him to rev it through all the rpms in nuetral or when driving to make sure the opti (distributor) is still working, and if it works good but he hasnt replaced it yet, its just a ticking timebomb at 98k miles, just beware, and it will cost you about 125 bucks to replace it if u can do it yourself. plus there is the other stuff you should look at with any car, the opti is just a known failure on LT1's

You might want to get a Carfax report for it to see if it's been in any major accidents.

Yea, the Torque Converter was totally shot. The thing was holding 1st gear up to within 500rpm of red line, no matter how hard I was on the gas. Also, it slipped out of reverse while backing out of the driveway. If anyone knows of a F body for sale for under 4 grand, Email or PM me.
