what exactly are the lifter cups for ?
someone told me that their was a bad batch of cups and it make the lifter to go to the side of the cam kinda like what mine did . but doesn't the holes in the block keep the lifter inline with the cam ?

The lifter trays engage the two flats machined on the top of the lifter to keep them from spinning. I may be mistaken, but I believe that the bad batch had a "10" stamped on them? Apparently they didn't hold the lifters perfectly square and caused a lot of friction between the lifter and cam.

he told me something about a bad batch and the holes would be noticebly off but mine don't really look off . is the number 10 batch the only way to tell if you have a bad batch
and also what would make my roller not ride in the center of the cam like in the picture

The lifters also help hold oil in for the lifters to operate effectively. Especially on cold starts.
There is a popular mod around here to drill a 1/2 hole in each to allow oil to drain back to the pan faster but that mod is really only intended for race applications
