Default will it run?

hey guys ive got a guy in my engine rebuilding class thats building an LS1 and he didnt keep the pistons matched with what cylinder they came out of. my teacher is saying thats not a good thing. i for one dont know if it is a big deal or not. i guess his readings for his cylinders were all about the same and hes putting the stock pistons back in. is his engine gonna be FUBAR? just wondering. what are your guys's thoughts on this?

Typically you want to keep all the pistons in the same cylinders. Im sure it will run though.

it will run, but the reason you put the pistons back to where they came from is, they seat themselves to that cyl. its not going to catastrophic, but not a good thing, it may take away from long term engine life, and or, cause some smoking, or just loose power. hard to say diff cars do diff things
