Default how to tell if my car has gears?

just got me a 02 ss camaro. its a m6 ls1 ss. it has 21k miles on it and a few slp parts. i have noticed that the speed is about 10-15 mph off( figured it out pacing a friend) and today i looked under the rear and noticed a ta performance girdle. is there any way i could tell what gears it has without pulling the diff? this would make sense as to why it reading so high. any help is appreciated.

www.f-body.org/gears/ Play with the calculator or get your friend next to you again at a specified speed and check your RPMs.

Chalk the driveshaft and turn. so many DS turns for one wheel turn.

Right on, just put it in neutral and throw it up on jackstands. Easiest is to go for 2 wheels spins, this gives you DS spins of:

6.84 for 3.42s
7.46 for 3.73s
8.2 for 4.10s

So less than 7, more than 7, more than 8.

ok well i think it still has an open diff. when i spin the tires the drive shaft doesent spin. it will move a little and then stop.

well i figured it has an open diff so if i only jack up one tire it will spin. i did the test and it spun 2x and the driveshaft spun just over 6 times so it looks like i have the 3.43's but i dont understand why my speedo would be so far off.

What size tires are on the car? Figure out what your speedo says at 2000RPMs in 6th.

well i have hp tuners and it said i have 3.43 stock. but the tire size was 24.94 when i calculated a 275/40/17 i got a 25.70 . so if i have stock tire size than why would it have been so small? also are the stock 3.43 a lsd?

Yeah, it had a limited slip from the factory, and with 21k miles, unless the car had the **** beaten out of it and there's noise from the back, then I'm sure it is still in working order (well...as "working order" as a stock limited slip can be).

turn the driveshaft not the wheels. if one spins foward and 1 reverse then you have the torsen posi.
