How Much do you think i can get for a used LS1 346 engine?
I am planning on putting a new engine in my 98 camaro. I was thinking of selling the stock 98 LS1 engine. It has 44,000 miles on it, its been garage kept, I never beated the engine at all, it runs perfectly fine with no problems. Any ideas of how much i can get for it? Like the lowest and the highest i should be able to get for it?

I like the answers i am hearing. Hopefully i can get as much as 2500. Come to think of it, i guess i could get rid of the tranny too. Afterall, what i am doing, the stock tranny will be useless to me. But that just means i have to save up for a new one along with the new engine. How much you guys think i can get for a 1998 Stock z28 tranny thats in perfect working condition? Also, I have always wondered this. I assume most people take apart the engine to the point where you can carry it piece by piece, but how does one go about selling the engine once its out and shipping it to where ever it needs to go by who ever buys it? I mean there is probably no way for me to send the engine in its whole form for shipment right?

The milage is low for a '98 , it's the right engine for Painless swap wiring kit/ECM and has analog sensors instead of the '99-up serial data. You should fetch decent coin from someone wanting to drop it in a streetrod or older car as a conversion.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I live in Central NJ. But i wouldn't be looking to sell the engine and tranny until around July or August. However, i will keep you updated if anyone here is interested at all.

Come to think of it, How does one go about actually shipping the engine and tranny to an interested buyer? I mean once i get my mechanic to take the engine and tranny out, How would i physically get the engine shipped out? I have never done that before. Would i have to have him take it apart piece by piece to the point where i can carry and move the engine myself? I am all ears for this one.

Depending on what is included, accessories, if the trans is included, if wiring and ecu come with it it can fetch decent money. A low miles long block with trans I can routinely get $3000 for.

Seeing LS1/T56 sell between $3300 and $4500 on ebay. I was watching liek a hawk between Jan and Mar. That is with harness, accesories, PCM, master. Without the harness and PCM, dock at least $1200... Shipping is easy, get a long pallet, build up a stand from two pieces of 4x4, bolt the engine stands right to it. If you include the x-member, throw a few lags through that, wrap it, and call the freigth company. Cost between $250 and $800 depending on where it is going...
It had shrink wrap all around it...
