Any LS1 turbo'd 3rd gen F-bodys (ie '82-92)
I was curious if there are any LS1 conversions in the 3rd gen '82-92 Fbody style with turbo setups?
I'm looking at one locally that has a 9" setup with ladder bars/rollcage/fuel system and it is begging for a turbo LS1 setup.
I assume if it fits in the 4th gen I could get it to work in the 3rd gen? I want to use truck 5.3/6.0 manifolds to make the turbo setup.
Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt assume that a turbo kit for a 4th gen will fit a 3rd gen. In fact, I can probably confidently say that it probably wont fit...atleast without major modifications. While very similar, there are enough differences to cause major issues. Turbo kits usually pack the tubing and mounts in pretty tight. And just the fact that the radiators mount at different angles might be enough to make tight fitting parts in a 4th gen, non-fitting parts in a 3rd gen.
You might be better off getting a turbo kit for a thirdgen car...and modifying it to work with the LS1 and turbo of your choice.
Of course I could be wrong too... Im sure some more will join in and contribute...

Probably should Have a shop custom build it. Probably Less trouble for probably same cost and probably will work better. Probably.

deffinitely get a shop to custom make and install a kit. If you want, buy a turbo first, and just have the shop make all the tubing. if you can get a turbo for cheap, it might be more cost effective that way.
If you get everything custom made and installed, expect to shell out about 4-5 grand, but that's the cost of a normal turbo kit anyway.

The rule of 3 cam... Whatever time you estimate for getting a job done, multiply that by 3 and thats how long it'll take. hahaha.
That sounds like its going to be a good build! I myself am thinking about going forced induction, but I wanna do a kenny bell. Since our 3rd gens dont have the cowl issues than the 4th gens have, shouldnt be too big of a deal.
