Brand New AFR LT4 Head Issues...finally solved!! After 1500 easy miles of break in on my 94Z, the thing began to smoke like the car had 200k on it. blue smoke poured out the back, continually. did compression and leakdown test, all great, like a brand new engine should be. 6and 8plugs had a little oil residue, but the rest were clean. pulled y pipe off and found both banks smoked.
decided to replace the valve seals and hoped the guides were not some how worn out!!! I found that some of the rubber umbrella seals were riding up and down on the valves, some were easy to remove and some had to be pryed off. replaced the seals and the smoke went away...finally!!
the only thing i did to the head before install was replace the valve springs with comp 987's and checked all the geometry.
What is dissapointing me is the fact these are 1700+ dollar heads , and came with rubber valve seals(yes i know that is clearly stated in their catalong what seals are used)...what the hell!!!...it only cost 30 dollars for a set of CC teflon seals.....
anyone else had any similar issues????
