Pics of my car's engine...
With and without the cover...
As some of you know I now have a Lexus LS-460 since dec/06. These pics are actually not from my own car, but from another LS-460 just like mine.
This is the all new aluminum V-8 that puts out 380hp with the 8-speed auto.

Wow, harsh guys. But seriously, our engine look any better?
Its does look cool with the engine cover on it and it certianly has the performance, and is a very nice car. But where the hell was the dipstick to check the oil?
ok found it. It looks like it up front by the cap on the washer fluid?
Still a very nice car!
IS the thing cowl inducted or have a hood scoop? where does that rectangular looking air box fit up to when the hood is closed? OR what is that I've circled? Can't really tell from the picture but it looks like it has foam around the edges for sealing.?

Well that rectangular opening is big (volume wise) and if you look at the area those vents encompase it's not small either. My guess is they diffuse it that way to lessen the sound of gushing air. It probably has better flow than my camaro thru it's hood scoop.
with the hood closed it's ram air
with the hood closed it's ram air

Interesting... What I don't know is if this car has one or two TBs. I know it's fly-by-wire and I also know there is one less belt because the power steering is electric (48 volts). The intake valves are also controlled by cams connected to step motors.
It looks like it would have two TBs as the air box splits to two air filters. One thing is for sure, this car is vault-like quiet.

Seriously? Look at the pipes after they come out of the air boxes. You can see them come back into one pipe as it enters the throttle body. Nice car.
