grinding into 3rd gear
I have a 2000 Z28 six speed. I have noticed that at low RMPs and very high RPMs when i attempt to shift to third gear it grinds and does not allow me to shift. It has also done it once in fourth gear. I pretty much have just stopped using third gear untill i figure it out. I have had no problems from any other gear at any other rpm. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Could be the bushing but more than likely a bent 3/4 shift fork. Don't use 3 or 4 until you get it looked at, you'll just end up trashing the gears and making the repair a lot more expensive. Do a search here, you'll get the details on the aluminum 3/4 shift fork issue.

Yep trans has to be pulled and torn apart. The fork will probably run you around $50.00 and you can get a synchro rebuild kit which will include blockers, keys, and other misc. stuff for around $250. I would rebuild all the synchros if you're gonna bother to pull the thing apart. Hopefully you haven't done damage to the 3rd or 4th gear and they wont need to be replaced. Check with www.sixspeedsinc.com (sponsor with great customer service) or www.ddperformance.com. You'd have to call on the labor side of stuff.
BTW, you're using a stock shifter, right?
