Default Custom door speaker baffles = water leak

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a mistake I made so that nobody else does it. I made MDF baffles for my doors to fit in Dayton RS180s and water anded up pouring out around them and getting into my car. I took it to the shop because it'd had a water leak that did the same thing before and I thought it might have been that again, but they sealed up around the baffles with polyurethane and everything's fixed. Fortunately, the guy at the shop I took it to is really nice and he didn't charge my anything. But just so you guys know, doing such a thing may result in a leak. I wonder if the stock brackets didn't leak since they covered the top of the speaker whereas my brackets do not...
