Lowering Air Dam
I had a notion to lower my front air dam for cooling
airflow improvement and (hopefully) some reduced air
drag on the highway. I had the idea to use some Home
Depot cove base material, which is nice and flexible
(at least here in the Florida heat) and comes in black.
Depot sells individual 4' lengths for under $5 which
is almost perfect (if only they were 4' 1"). These strips
have a thick self-adhesive already on the back. I cleaned
the stock air dam plastic thoroughly and scribed a line
that would make a > 1" lowered end result air dam and
carefully stuck down the cove base. Then I drilled 5
pop rivet holes and pop riveted the cove base with
backing washers (just for luck).

I marked the corners with a line I thought was suitable
and trimmed the corners up nice with a pair of scissors.
The cove base is really easy to cut (but should be tough
enough for the occasional scrape).

The result is a lower, but not very eye-catching air dam
that should direct a lot more air up into the radiator
and the SLP CAI duct I have just picked up. This is a
mod for performance (cooling and "free" ram air pressure)
and not appearance, but at least the appearance is not
too ghetto-heinous. Especially after I get around to dabbing
a little black paint on the rivet heads, I think most folks
wouldn't even notice my new snowplow.
