best set up for stock bottom end sts ???
im planning on picking up a sts kit with a 67mm turbo. was wondering if you guys can help me out with the best setup to get the most out of it without forging the bottom end. so what do you think would be a good setup with the heads, cam, fuel system(injectors, pump, rails if necessary) and exhaust... just curious from all you experts and also opinions on blow off valves which one has best performance and sounds decent at the same time..... thanks for the help, much appreciated....

wideband get the aem its a great unit
exhaust...stock manifolds, maybe a little better ypipe, magnaflow ipipe. Or just keep the stock exhaust and wrap it good...thats what i did and it works fine. About to ditch the cats and get the stock manifolds jet hot coated.

theres really no need IMO for that. i run 7.5psi(given if i dont have an exhaust leak) all the time, no switching or anything. do what mitch is doing, stock manifolds with better ypipe and a custom i pipe for clearance. and wrapp everything after manifolds.
AEM wideband works great, i have it

Manual one...whatever you want. I have one I'd sell you if you want...an electric one also.
You can run a fuel pressure or oil temp gauges...those are just luxuries IMO.
I have ALLLLLLLL stock parts on my engine except patriot dual valve springs.
The heads and cam would be nice, but you'd be pushing the limits of the rest of the engine...mostly the piston rings and/or pistons. They tend to let go around 550rwhp+.

so with a sts 67mm turbo system on a stock bottom end the best set-up that you F.I. experts helped me come with is some 6.0L 317's for the heads, a cam in the range of 224 224...580 580 with a 114, 42lb injectors, racetronix fuel pump kit, go back to stock manifolds, better ypipe and ipipe, with a boost guage and aem wideband and the manual boost controller should be fine running a flat 8lbs. , with that said i should be in the 500rwhp range, does that sound about right ???

Unless I missed it somewhere, you're gonna need something to cool down your IAT's. Either meth or a front mount IC. A fuel pressure gauge is a good thing to have too. The last thing you want is to run out of fuel while at 8 psi. With a fuel pressure gauge you can keep an eye on it to make sure your pressure is staying constant.
Also, just so you know, if you end up pulling the cats, the car will be really loud. Also, are you M6 or auto?

Mine was loud enough that it annoyed me, very raspy. I have a Borla XR-1 after my turbo, but that didn't quiet it down much.
Ironically, I had to pull my cats cause I got a 2 step, which is what I was going to suggest for you...but you have to leave the cats off. You'll also likely need a better clutch. Ahhh, the joy of FI...it just keeps adding up. Just wait til you want to turn up the boost!!

i have the built t56 with a spec 5 and a strange 12 bolt with a full spool and 4.10s in it. i wasnt gonna go with the spec 5 but it came with the tranny that i bought here of ls1tech. i dont mind it much because i dont daily drive the car but if i did i think it would get pretty annoying, not really a daily driver clutch.... hmm does anyone have sounds clips of what theres sound like with muffler after turbo and without ???

I don't have any sound clips. But, how do you feel the 4.10's are gonna do with the turbo? I stayed with a 3.42 to load the turbo a little better. Other than that, at least you have the drivetrain pretty solid. Good luck with it.

thanx man. can anyone help me come up with a custom grind for a cam for this setup, i've been reading up and i here cam selection is a big factor in your car running strong and putting out nice #'s, so i want to know if you experts can point me in the right direction in that field or come up with some specs for this set up ?
