Default Any tips or tricks?

I have a '98 Z. Do you guys have any tips on how to change the #8 spark plug on the passenger side, closest to the firewall? I was looking at tackling this job this weekend, but I just don't see how to get my hands that little space. Thanks...

Air ratchet, short wobble extension and a shallow spark plug socket. Go at it from underneath, easier if done on a lift.

when i have to do something under there, i take the proppellershaft off and the gearbox brackets, and then let the motor go down a little bit, way more space

I've never done it as maintenance. I've always changed plugs when I was installing headers. That said, its not "that" hard to get too if you unbolt the coil packs from the valve cover... plus it makes putting the plug wire back on a lot easier too. But I've usually also got the air tube removed at this point too.

It may seem like a lot of work, but I would be willing to bet removing all that stuff is easier in the long run then trying to wedge your hand back there.

Of course I would jack the car up first and see what kind of access you have from the bottom before you start pulling stuff apart up top.

Do a search and I've sure you will find a write up on it somewhere.

Are you kidding? Its not hard at all. Take the damn coil packs off and just reach. I have large hands and I can do it without issue. No fancy tools, just ratchets and wrenches

Thats what I do on my car. If you want to make plugs changes easier just get a set of longtubes.

I noticed absolutely no difference in ease of plug change after longtubes.....

dri side 5 min
pass side 15min

coil packs 10 min

all done from the top.....

Interesting, what brand of longtubes did you have? I had pacesetters and they gave me alot more room, especially for the #8 plug. I took some of them out from under the car so maybe that was the difference. I'm running hooker shorty headers now for my turbo kit, and I think plug changes are more of a bitch now than with the stock manifolds. These things suck!
