best combination of cams & heads Heads and cams are like peas and carrots. They belong together, should be bought together, they rely on each other.

However that may not be the best course of action, and you could lose to smaller cammed cars on the street. What transmission do you have? What type of driving, and more importantly racing, do you mostly do? What other mods are on the car? Headers? Exhaust? Intake? What else do you plan on doing to the car? What rear-end ratio?
More details = much better advice on a head/cam combo.

You need to figure out what kind of performance you are looking for and what the application will be and go from there.
A lot of the sponsers on this site sell complete packages that take the guess work out of it!
Texas Speed & Performance (TSP) would be a good place to start. They really know their stuff!

what he said... call a sponsor like TSP or Thunder Racing and tell them what you're looking for. Then use that as a starting point and research... nothing worse than spending $2K and wishing you'd gone a different route with the heads/cam. The cam in the sig above is a great all around cam and if combined with a decent set of heads should get you all the power you'd ever need.

You should do your research and decide what your ultimate goal is. Then you should pick the set of heads to accomplish this goal. After having the heads flowed you should send those specs to a custom cam grinder and tell them what your goal is. That will give you your best personal combination of heads and cam.
pick your cam from your heads, most people do it the other way around
