Grease removal?

Grease removal? I sprayed some stuff I found in the garage that was similar to WD-40 (couldn't find the WD-40) and I sprayed it on my door jambs where the door is bolted on so it would stop squeaking when I open/close the door. Well, while it worked, it also left a gross looking residue. Is there a solution I can spray that will take it right off, like degreaser does to grease?
