Default Gear safe cleaning solvent?

I'm rebuilding a t56 and keep seeing in the Tremec manual to clean everything with "solvent." What type of cleaner are they referring to? Brake clean? or do I need to use something more mild for the various materials?

Any help is much appreciated.

Brake clean works just fine. just make sure the trans is not dry for it's maiden voyage after the rebuild.

I'd buy a case of brake clean.. and a little squirt can and fill it with ATF so when your assembling the thing you can lube all the parts up.. I use one filled with 90w for the tranny I build although there not t56's
