Default air lid question

not exactly sure if this should be in this section or not, and im sorry if it seems like a dumb question but ive always had a truck and am learning more about these cars as i go. i have a 2000 trans am ws6 and a few buddies of mine said ot replace the stock air lid with an aftermarket one. the one i was looking at is http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...8eb87aefb79834

i was just wondering if this air lid is a good one or if hte ones by slp are better?

all air lids are pretty much the same, they will al get you the same net hp gain and your buddies are right, a aftermarket lid is like baptizing your LS1 in tho the mod world.

Whisper lids are a good lid, but I prefer SLP, I love my SLP lid (to bad its the only SLP product worth buying). And the lettering on the SLP kicks the crap out of the whisper. Not to mention it comes the the most close to matching the same color plastic that comes under the hood.

If you're looking for performance gains, I wouldn't waste your money on a lid. I will say that the SLP lid looks great under the hood though.

Are you saying an expensive lid or any lid at all? I, along with what seems like almost everybody that mods their cars, think that a lid is probably one of the first things that should be added.

It is all of the small things are. Lids are lids... the difference was i hin .1 or .01 HP difference.

Why would you do a lid first? A lid is roughly a hundred bucks for a very minimal gain if any. If that's fine with you, then by all means get a lid. I admit it looks great under the hood but I just don't consider it a performance mod. You would be better off spending 80 bucks on a ported throttle body.
