Default 5-point Harness Qusetion?

For the shoulder straps is it legal to bolt them to the crossbar or should I weld them to it?

TIA
Jim

Why don't you just wrap it around the crossbar? Thats what I did...

Did you purchace the harness yet? If you get or have the (bolt in type) harness you can drill a hole in the cross bar or weld a tab for the bolt. I have done it both ways and was never hassled.

If you get or have the (wrap around type) then just wrap it around because thats what it was made to do. You can't wrap around a bolt in type.

There is also a floor mount which gets bolted through the floor boards, but I don't suggest this type because the f-body floor boards are very thin. You could weld in some reinforcement and use this type but why?

Good luck

Thanks for the info guys, Tom i got the bolt on type but it looks like i can use them either way because you have to wrap the strap through the mounting plate anyways. I'm just going to wrap them around the crossbar, if i do it that way i'll just be eliminating one point of failure.
On the side straps i'm just going to mount the to the stock seat belt mounts.

Chris
I have always mounted the side mounts in the stock locations. My crouch strap floor area is reinforced with a 6" X 6" steel plate welded to the floor board.

I never thought of that. Good idea.
