manual brake driveability?
on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to drive around with a good manual brake setup?
1 being hardest and 10 being stock power brakes
and just for comparison I would think that stock power brakes without any vacuum would be like a 1, correct?

Well its not just like unplugging your brake booster, brakes before was meant not to have power. and then when you take the power away from power brakes I think its hard, not in the design.

thats the question, not if i should or not like some people are replying to

Hell i wouldnt do it. Have you ever driven a car that had manual brakes from the factory? I drove a 69 mustang that had manual brakes and hell a couple of times i didnt think i was going to be able to get the car to stop, seemed like the best braking procedure i could come up with at the time was to pump them in order to get the car to stop decently. So i would just keep them, trust me power brakes are 100000x better than manual ones are. Just my .02 tho.

If your looking to clean up the looks then just get rid of your abs unit, abs is a much more feasable item to delete rather then the power brakes all together. I've been driving mine without abs for a good year now and have no desire to go back.

Just like power steering, its easier to drive a car that has manual steering than a car that has power steering that just ***** out. If its designed with power brakes, I wouldn't even attempt to drive without the power assist, you'd be putting yourself and others in danger. There are manual brake conversions if Im not mistaken, but I can't see spending that much money to save a few cubic inches of space and less than 5 lbs (brake booster).

I have both manual brakes and steering. I wouldnt do it any other way. The brakes were done with a billingsley kit, comes with a strange master cylinder and a adapter plate. I had to make new lines since they come out the opposite side and I did the abs delete at the same time. Heres a few pics:

Oh sweet. Did you have to modify the length of the rod attached to the brake pedal or does the billet adapter take care of that? This could help clean up my engine bay making it super easy to pull the master cylinder which I have done two times. My first car was manual brakes anyways. Stopped pretty decent. You could lock up all four wheels even with big old Rally wheels and tyres!
