Default banging/knocking after strut install

i just installed new bilstein hds on my 2000 z28, and upon taking it out for the test ride the drivers side sounds like its banging around. I took everything apart again and found nothing wrong, so i put it back together and it still makes the noise. please help im out of ideas

Top shock nut is not down far enough. Did put the washer on below the top hat and put the dogbone piece back in?

I had the same issue when I first installed my HD's. Tighten down the bolt on top of the shock as much as you possibly can and the annoying clunking sound/vibration will disappear.
