You cant have a lopey cam really without replacing other valvetrain considering most of the cams that sound lopey are too big for stock springs. You could get away with stock rockers if you wanted but it would be a good idea to get new lifters if you have a good amount of miles on your car. I think it would be a waste to do a cam swap without doing everything cause id personally rather do it all once and do it right and not damage the motor by running a lopey cam that has a lift greater than the stock valvetrain can support.

hotcam was desgined to work with the stock motor and stock tune, you dont need new internals at all, per GM. Yur not gonna run 11's but you will notice a difference in sound and power

A cam without new springs is like breaking the home run record after using steroids...sure you can say you've done it but its just not the same
Big cam done right > Small cam no springs
Hank Aaron > Barry Bonds

The springs in the HOT cam kit work OK with the light weight LT4 valves but the LT1 valves are heavier and to get the most out of that cam you need more spring, even then it is only servicable, not great.
This is a big mod with a lot of costs besides the actual cam. Don't do it halfassed, save a few more bucks and do it right.

Go custom. A cam isn't something you "budget." Wait until you have the money to get what's right for you and then do it.
If you're sticking with a stock bottom end, get a custom grind that will make you a lot of power from 2000-6200 RPM. A lot of those off the shelf grinds don't even wake up until about 4k, and you gotta run them to 65-6800 RPM.
Lots of power but you're just asking for a spun bearing with that.

Also, can anyone give me the valve events and overlap @.050" of that cam?
Thanks!
