Default Want to get a converter. HELP!!!

Seems like everyone on here is running a 3000-3500 stall converter. Let me know, how does this act on the street? I am dying to get some real life feedback about high stall converters on the street. I want my times to get better, but Is the cost of having a stall converter too high for a car I like to drive and take on road trips?

Most 3000-3600 converters are considered pretty mild. There are many choices btwn stall ratios, which determine how loose or tight a converter is. I haven't put mine in as its a 3000 and I've decided to go bigger. You will notice a difference around town more so than on the highway, from what I've gathered and I've done alot of research. I've only had one car that I had a bigger converter in but it was a big block Olds and a totally different animal, so I can't compare the two. I know everybody says the same thing, but use the search(when it works) and the stickies, you will find alot of useful info.

Depends alot on the converter, Tighter converters like ours are known to be give a good performance increase while retaiing excellent drivablility. Now the "looser" converters while they can give you more bite right off the line floored generally have major effect on lower speed fuel efficency. Either will give the same highway efficency, Butin simple a tight performance converter in the 3000 to 3500 range will provide enough fun to easily offset any small loss in low end efficency.
