Anyone run Castrol Syntec 5w-40?

Default Anyone run Castrol Syntec 5w-40?

Is it comparable to the 0w-30 German stuff?

It's not the same as the GC 0W30. I run it to eliminate some lifter noises and it works well for me. Also increased the oild pressure.

I think the 5w40 is made in US and 0w30 is made in Germany. They are not the same. 0w30 is what you want for your LS1.

ive been running that CASTROL SYNTEC 5W-40!! its kick *** man!! always get good oil pressure. never had any oil consumption issues like u would have with mobil 1!! my buddy was there when i did an oil change, and he said damn man, the oil still looks new as we were draining the old oil out!! good stuff!!

I run it cause i work at an audi dealership, and I can get it for $3.67 a qt.

There was a version of the 5W40 out that was made in Belgium, that was really good according to some of the the stuff i read on bobistheoilguy..The only problem is that its harder to find than the GC 0W30..Look up the the threads that were recently posted by "Mr.Incredible"..called like "thin oil test"...It will kinda change your mind about LS1's needing a thicker oil.
