Car wont start....clicking sound near glovebox
Went to start the car today, and it wont crank. I heard a clicking sound from the glovebox. I removed the glove box and found the noise coming from the BCM. Now, I am not electroincs guy so forgive the elementary explanation.
The part that is clicking is a shiny metal piece that is next to 5 small black box looking things.
Anyhow, Ive tried jumping the car, it wont start. Ive looked up a new BCM and its around $150 shipped from gmpartsdirect....
Do I need a new BCM, or can I check some other things. Keep in mind I have limited electronics experience.
Thanks

My guess would be on the starter. The alenator could be going bad, I know that when my car was in storage the alenator went bad like 3 months into the storage. I would check that out, the alenator may not be getting enough juice, or the starter could not be cranking over b/c of the voltage issues. Just food for thought, just look into two things.

Im quite certain the battery is not the problem. The car wont start even when jumped to another vehicle. I replaced the alternator and battery less than a year ago. And have driven approximately 3k miles since then. The car started and ran great on Thursday and then saturday this current problem occured.
Even when I had a completely dead battery, jumping it would start the car only for it to die again. Here, I am getting no guage functions, no door locks/window movements. Ive been researching this online and it seems the BCM controls ALL of these things.
Can I replace and reprogram the BCM or is this something the dealer needs to do?

I'd still have the battery load tested, if for no other reason just to eliminate it as the problem - and it's free. I'm on my third battery w/25K on the clock since new. Stock Delco clicked, Sears diehard gold died and only indication I had was the remote wouldn't even unlock the doors one morning. Did you check the voltage across the terminals?

Turns out it was the f*cking battery, at least the connections. Below you will see the positive terminal that I removed from the battery and the new one I put in.
Thanks for all the input.
