Tach can't keep up with the motor... missing shifts..
alright well i went to the track for the first time since i did a pile of work,
and my first run i was peggin the limiter. which confused me as i was revving only 5900. my limiter is set to 6650.
even 2nd gear i noticed it was lower, like 6300.
now i checked the computer and it hasnt changed last time i uploaded the pcm file it was 6650,
is it possible that with my 4.10's that the tach just isnt climbing as fast as the motor?
if i get a shift light would that be accurate? i need something here, im going by sound and its costing me time.

is it easy to get into the vent? and is it visible on a sunny day when your at the track or do you have to look at it while your going?
nice and bright? and can it hook up without one of those ignition modules for rpm? i heard with some tach's or shift lights you need an extra module for it to work.

Stock tach is crap!
Get a Harlan or Raptor shiftlight, they are both good. I have one of each.
Best place for them in a Camaro is the vents above your stereo:
...I wasn't trying to take a pic of it there. I just installed an 8500 x50 with remote display, but I mounted that shiftlight for him too.
Tap right into the traction control wires, even if you don't have it the wires are still there, car in pic does not have traction control.
A/C blows fine right past it too.
Oh and here is the difference in the size of Harlan vs Raptor shiftlights:
Peace,
Craig.

They all wire the same, but that one is little bigger. Raptor is more expensive, but the Harlan is cheaper then that one I think.
Also you have to set the shiftlight for 4cyl car setting when you go to program the RPM's.
Peace,
Craig.

I have my harlan shiftlight in the middle A/C vent as well.
Excellent choice for a stealthy install. When it lights up, the whole car can light up if the vent isn't directed correctly
