Yet another lt4 hot cam ?
After all the previous posts its hard to tell what to think about the kit.
I am in the process of rebuilding my engine to a 355 forged pistons and bolt ons, lt's and 52 mm tb and im trying to get a good streetable cam that still makes some decent power what do u guys think Also the car is an a4
I would like to be close to 12's in the 1/4 is it possible with that cam?

very possible..im running something extremely close to the lt4 cam..its a good "small" cam..not a bad choice..the overall package is what makes the difference..mine is stalled with full exhaust and she really scoots..dont let anyone discourage you from this cam

Mine runs real good.
Very streetable and sounds good. It is all bout your combo man. People think bigger cam more power not true at all. I like the kit. I would go with a 58mm TB though!

Just finished mine with the "Hot Cam " kit. You're right don't let anybody steer you away from this kit. I was very impressed what difference this little cam can do. After the install I had 3.73 gears put in and she runs great. My car is a DD so I didn't want to get killed on the gas mileage so this is why I chose this cam. Very happy here!! It also has a nice sounding idle too!

I used to have a hotcam in my car a few years back. Great cam! I ran mid 12's in the 1/4 and 8.0's int he 1/8 with bolt ons, stock suspesion, factory wheels/tries, and full weight.

Go with the LT4 hot cam kit... if you look at summit, its the only cam that comes with rockers and springs in hence the kit... i put that in my car, and it runs like a champ, and its not bad on the street, just takes a little getting use to...

sounds right i think i may have some float above 6500 but how often does it get there, my wife drives it. No moror damage though and i spin it to 7000. I had a stall and went back to stock when it broke, and would stay stock for dd acutally its out of a 92 z28 and has a little more then the stock lt did also a friend is running a converter from a 3/4 ton truck and likes it

I have the hot cam, lt4 springs, Comp pushrods, and stock rockers runs great. Bought everything from Gm except the pushrods. If you intend to drive your car regualrly, you won't be dissappointed. I run 12.6's regularly. And thats with **** tires

just boguth the kit for mine, along with some headers, stall and a shift kit. got the stall, shift kit and headers on, just waiting for more money to get a elec. water pump and put this stuff on...

This simply amazes me. I think the LTx community is devolving.
The HOT cam got popular early on simply since it was made by GM as an upgrade on the LT1. If GM made it, it must be good, right? Anyway, even when it was released, it wasn't the best thing out there. The problem is that the ramps are slow on that cam. You could get a smaller duration cam that makes the same power, but more low-end and better idle. Or, you could get a cam with the same duration and make more power with the same idle. And this all was available years ago. The little Crane 210/224 is smaller duration outperforms the HOT cam and it was available years ago.
The Crane 210 cam doesn't even have very fast ramps either. Since that time, the Comp Extreme and then later the Comp XFI lobes were developed, offering more valve acceleration still. The XFI's are a little tricky to set up the valvetrain, but the Extreme lobes are a piece of cake.
You could get a Comp 224/230-112 using Extreme lobes 3192 and 3315 and you'd have less seat duration (better idle), more duration at .050 (more power), and way more lift. It's the best of all worlds.
Or you could stick with the old-school HOT cam, or maybe even a "3/4 race cam".

i have the hotcam kit in my car, and Im not even running all the proper bolt ons yet and I will say I am quite happy with it. Once i get some headers I am sure I will be even more happy.

Wow mostly all positives about the hot cam. I asked on another forum and was told it is way too much money for way too little performance??
Never raced on or off the track. Stock bottom end. Ported LT4 aluminum heads and intake, LT4 "Hot" cam w 2" intake 1.55" exhaust valves, Extreme duty timing chain set, GMPP 1.6 ratio roller rockers w hardened push rods, Arizona Speed & Marine ceramic coated headers, cold air induction with K & N filter, 160 degree thermostat, 52MM throttle body, performance programmed PCM, Borla stainless steel cat back exhaust, Vigalante 2800 stall torque converter, performance transmission rebuild with Transgo shift kit with performance servo (only about 1000 miles since the rebuild), Motive 3.73 gears, new set of 275/40/ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE730 tires, Eibach spring package (lowered 1 1/2 to 2 inches), and much more. Only Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil has been used and changed every 3000 miles.
I was told this is a "poorly" built car, more money thrown at it then knowledge? The experiences here sound positive.

Man, with all of those mods you should be able to run some easy mid-12's with a mild cam. No doubt. I had almost the same exact setup but with stock ported LT1 heads and ran a 12.6.
Next best investment for you would be some drag radials or slicks.
