Default arp main studs/bolts not direct bolt-in??

this pic came from Christopher Endres's book "Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance." The caption says that the ARP main stud is not a direct bolt-in.

So now I'm confused. Why wouldn't ARP make direct bolt-in main studs and bolts? Or do they? And if ARPs are not direct bolt-in, how would they go in??

Default

i figured it out. technically, they are not direct bolt-in. but they are direct fit. usually when i hear "not direct bolt-in," some sort of customization follows. crisis averted. lol
