Default 3200 stall to big

Im writing this for a friend. He is going to get his tranny rebuilt with a 3200 stall converter. His car is a 94 Z LT1 stock except for a SLP LM and a cat delete. He plans to do the LE2 heads and cam later in the future. but for now would that be to big.

not if it's a good brand. If it's a good stall, give him two weeks with it and he will think it's too small

I think 3200 would be perfect for a stock car but with the LE2 kit I would want a 3800 to 4000.

LS1's run bigger stalls then the LT1 crowd to make sure of their impressive top end.

Bolt-on LT1s usually like 2800-3400 depending on the driver. I DD my car so didnt want to go to far, and even though I am H/C I LOVE my 3200 stall . Flashes to around ~3400, beast on the street and the track

I would go at least 3k to make use of future mods, assuming you do not go crazy and go for some huge "internet reccomended" shelf cam instead of custom grind for your engine. Then you will need like a 4K stall w/ 4.10s to run good times

I have had a Vigi 3200 in my 93 since '03, you really cant tell its there until you nail it. In fact I bet if you didn't know what a after market converter felt like when your just driving around or what a stock stall LT1 drove like, I guarantee you wouldn't know it had that big of a stall. The people that say a 3200 in to big for a bolt on or daily driver car are idiots. I daily drove that stall through horrible Houston traffic for two years and it was never an issue. The bad thing is though, I cant stand driving a F-body with the stock stall. Oh yea, that stall, MTI CAI and a SLP Loud Mouth, I ran 8.58@80 on a 1.86, thats on heavy *** ZR1s, stock 3.23s, stock manifolds and cat in a 3500lb car.

sorry guys for bringing this old thread back but my friend was writing this thread for me. thanx chris. but anyways the cam is going to be an LE2 cam for now. with all the supporting mods of course for a while. i don't have enough for the heads just yet but i can do just cam only. the car will be a cammed car till about summer 2008 when i put the LE2 Heads on it and whatever else i would need with the heads. the reason being that i need to know about the stall is cause i'm geting it rebuilt in about a month and he's gonna throw in a stall. he built one of my friends and it is practically bullet proof. lol. very very good trany. i was told that LT1's love rpms down low. is this true? would this stall be too small with the H/C? let me know guys thanx.

Sorry for bringing up this old thread, I did a sear

My tranny is on its last leg and since I was going to have it rebuilt, I was thinking about a 3200 stall. This thread did help but I'm still confused, I have 2.73 gears and was still wondering if Fuddle 3200 will be too much. I only drive the car around maybe 3 times a week, it will be cammed and sprayed in the futur(8months)....So any help would be great? How much do you have to rev it to get it moving from a stop?

I have a 3400 stall EDGE converter, all mods are listed in my signature. It is a daily driver when I am not in college. It has 3.23 gears, and it runs great, cant notice the stall. The 3200 should be a great deal.
