My car just doesnt feel as jumpy as it used to. definately more powerful in the top end, but the low end is weaker. im wondering if its going to kill my 1/4 time.

I went from a 13.9 at 102 to a 13.1 at 107 with pacesetter long tubes, Ory, cutout and a mad z28 tune. They helped my car a **** load.

well maybe the reason why i think its making my car run worse is because when i went to the track after i had the lts installed, i went on a 95* day with high humidity, when before i ran on a 60 something degree day with no humidity and got 13.9 with a 2.3 60' (before the headers)

That's why I don't really want LTs, I think they're more for the top end right? I like low end power. The tracks are too far away for me, so I just want seat of the pants power on the street.

could be my imagination and the humidity. i noticed a slight increase in mileage across the board.

but even if there was something wrong, what could be wrong, ive checked and rechecked everything exhaust related, got a lt4 km, i dont know. all my friends say theres a gain, maybe ive just been driving the car too much and its just normal to me now.

I thought LTs got rid of back pressure, which was kinda needed for torque?

Scavenging helps build torque. Back pressure has a scavenging type effect. Back pressure isn't good though.

Longtubes help the whole power curve. I went from bbk shorties to pacesetter lts and now my car will pull in 6th gear at 1400rpm, where before with the shorties it would do nothing at that rpm. Also now I can shift every gear at 2000rpm and it just fukin pulls, I love it. Then again I am not stock so im sure my motor is benifiting from longtubes more than a stock lt-1.

Look at any dyno sheet comparison before/after headers and tell me if the torque is doing worse

(answer: it will increase it basically everywhere)

It might shift the powerband SLIGHTLY higher, but you're going to see a big gain and a noticeable difference in feel.

LT's will rob a little low end power as stated, but IMO, you can't go wrong with long tubes. I've seen cars drop over 1/2 a second by adding LT's and a computer tune.

Its not going to hurt anything. I would rather have lower 1/4 mile ET's than have more low end torque that you can't do anything with. Especially if you have a stalled automatic or launch a 6 speed at any kind of RPM, then it really wouldn't matter any way.
Besides, having big end power is more impressive to most people who ride in a sports car 9 times out of 10. I'd rather have a car the pulls like a 13yo boy in the shower from 4k-6500 than have a car peter out after 3 grand.

BTW, just thought of something.
I do know a few people that have slowed down b/c of adding LT's. The main reason being that the excess noise generated buy the headers in the engine bay causes the knock sensor to pick up knock retard even when there isn't "real" knock going on. I know it either has to be tuned out or some buy a LT4 knock module to fix the problem.
IT basically retards engine timing thus causing power loss, and that ='s shitty ET's with more mods/money than what you had before.
