Question Swapping Muffler form Hooker CB,, what muffler?!

I currently have a HOOKER cat-back on my car and was wanting something to replace it that is a little bit louder and has a more aggressive tone.Curently I have a cutout in the i-pipe, and really want a good sounding muffler for the street/Strip.
its not my DD
and im looking for a better flowing muffler that i can just bolt up so i don't have to buy a new exhaust.
so i need a better flowing muffler and i don't care how loud it is just want flow and bolt right up.
i just want to gain some exhaust flow with a muffler i can put in the Hookers place
im just going to swap mufflers

The point of the thread is to see what muffler would be the best to replace the Hooker with
Let me know your opinions or if you have a better suggestion.

Thanx in Advance

The Hooker Muffler is one of the best flowing, I can't think of one that would really be much better... Yes it's quiet but it's really a good flowing muffler

I am not actually sure there is a bolt in muffler that will outflow the Hooker muffler. With my cutout open I only gain like 2.8hp over having the cutout closed. Why are you looking to get rid of the hooker muffler?

Change it only if you want something louder when the cutout is closed.

edelbrock makes a good sounding muffler louder than hooker but might not be as free flowing

Hooker is one of the best flowing mufflers around, you will be hard pressed to find a better flowing muffler. Having said that, and since you want a bit louder, I would recommend Magnaflow as the next louder muffler from a Hooker. I think the Hooker is loud enough with LTs though, it's the perfect sound.

not to rain on your parade 12secss but i swapped to a magnaflow muffler and i am not the least bit impressed by there product (sound/performance) and we wont even go into their customer service. i would go with hooker if i was you, or if someone has more insight then wait around alittle bit longer.

You may be able to piece in a muffler where your areochamber muffler was, but you would have to plumb the rest of it to the rear of the car with new pipe. The Hooker muffler is so big that simply swapping in a standard bullet muffler will require some fab work. I would Either get a cutout and keep your current catback, or switch to a louder catback (or true duals).

You misunderstood, I love my Hooker setup. I have the LT, ORY and exhaust (see sig). Personally, I am with you, I do not like the sound of Magnaflow. Although it is one step louder then a Hooker, which the original poster requested.

I have a hooker cat back with LTs and a TSP Ory. I love the sound. but I wanted something just for the track too. So this is what I did I welded a header 3 bolt flange to a 12" dyno max race muffler so I could bolt it right up to the pipe coming over the axle. (in place of the hooker muffler) and then I weld a turn down after.

so it loud as heck when I want it. I just unbolt the hooker along with the tailpipes and bolt that dynomax right in. takes about 10 mins max.

here is some pics of the setup
this is on my friends SS

and by the way LTs/ory and a magnaflow sounds like

ncd1966, I was considering that for my Hooker system , but considering I will be putting my CME back on ... that idea will not lend itself to be used with a CME.

Any chance you can get video clips of the hooker setup then with the bullet setup?

Thats a good idea but thats goin to be probally as loud as this guys cutout is. To answer your question there are no mufflers on the market that will bolt directly up to the hooker muffler due to the flange where the muffer conects to the I pipe. But with little fab work or a muffer shop could easlier weld or clamp in a different muffer. The magnaflow muffler is a little bit louder but not sure if its really worth the trouble for such a little difference. I have the hooker and a cutout and im gettin an electric valve for the cutout so I can switch back and forth
