Ouch!

A friend cracked the cylinder wall of the block (top to bottom) on the #7 cylinder in his 99 Lingenfetler Silverado (supercharged iron 5.3).

What is your bore & stoke? I wanted 2 go 4.100 on a iron block or l92 w/4inch and about 15 to 20 psi. Are you running big enough coolers, wat/meth injection?

just a 408. 4.030x4.00 i think?

intercoolers are good sized. meth up to 14psi, race fuel after that.

i dont think you can go 4.100 on an iron 6.0 block. from what i understand 4.060 is borderline sometimes.

the truck can't make a run so no, it isn't sold. can't sell a truck that wont run. get it running and i think it is sold.

i can't make any runs. i think it just puts a big air pocket into the cooling system after a hard pull and then overheats. i can put around just fine but thats it.

Jim, you plan on building an LSX block just to get it running again and sell it?

I haven't seen any other iron blocks cracked yet, that's crazy.

Cracking the block is common in long duration/high power engines without filled cylinders. Steve's block cracked across the deck, not down the cylinder. He did run it another year!!

That would help explain the coolant / head gasket problems.
