Default question about autometer tach w/2002 pcm (cross posting)

Hi All,
I'm running an 02 pcm and have an autometer tach in a LS1 swapped car. I have it wired to PCM wire #10. The tach doesn't pick up RPM. I tried setting as 4 CYL and tach seemed to pick up 2X rpm. Can anyone tell me the right way to connect the tach?

cheers

I did that on my 98z28, but it uses the 35 wire, from what I remember it is a white wire#10, I just spliced into that wire and ran my autometer tach in 4 cyl mode, it worked for me.

How are you tapping into the wire and are you sure the tach is in 4 cyl mode? I think you have to cut both small wires to run 4 cyl mode if I remember right, if it is picking up 2x the signal, just reconnect the wire back to a 8 cyl mode?

Connector C2(red), pin 10, and it should work.

I attach to the end of the #10 wire off red PCM plug (02 pcm).

I put it in 4 cyl and it's definitely higher than actual, idle says over 2000 and a small bit of throttle puts it over 5000, and it's not screaming.

with wires attached idle says about 500 and a lot of throttle puts it at 1200 - like it's just not reading it.

I think it's a voltage in issue and 8 cyl mode is correct, something about the sensitivity with the wires connected vs. not.

I'll probably just try to get an answer from autometer.

Thanks!
